Español: Ubicado en la Plaza de Armas Arturo Prat, se encuentra este conjunto alegórico, único en nuestro país; que engalana y llena de orgullo a nuestra ciudad. Está representado por una mujer, por Juno, Diosa de la Minería y las Artes. En su mano derecha sostiene un barreno y en la izquierda un martillo rudo, herramientas que identifican al minero. Alzada en la cúspide, simulando al Monte Olimpo domina los azules cielos atacameños. En medio de la divinidad, cuatro cóndores andinos con sus alas desplegadas, listas para emprender el vuelo.
A los costados, los blasones del escudo chileno, mirando el norte y sur de nuestro país, en los costados la figura de Zeus, su esposo y hermano, soberano del universo; lanzando el chorro diluviano. Realza la hermosura de este conjunto escultórico, su presentación en mármol de la región de Carrara, en Italia. El Monumento a la Minería, fue mandado a construir por la Municipalidad de Copiapó, bajo las indicaciones del Intendente de Atacama, don Braulio Carvallo. Don Francisco Fernández Rodella, Cónsul de Chile en Paris fue encargado de contactar y firmar el contrato de construcción, con el escultor francés Durand Vossy. Trabajaron en el diseño de la obra, los artistas grabadores Jean-Francoise Millet y Théodore Rosseau, ambos de la escuela Barbizón, para ello se destinaron 25.000 francos por el valor del monumento. Fue inaugurado en la navidad de 1863.
